RuneScape started off with plain graphics, without much detail, but that didn’t seem to bother many RuneScape players because graphics aren’t everything in the game, it’s all about the game play. RuneScape offers a huge world full of various monsters, large cities, different skills, quests, with thousands of players from all around the world. This game gives us a chance to interact with people from Canada, the UK, Australia, US, Mexico, and much more. You can train skills such as Magic, Construction, Herblore, or do quests. If not, then you can sit around chatting with your friends in Varrock Center and play around with the emotes. No matter what, there’s always something to do in RuneScape.

Yesterday, I decided to log into the oldest character I remember, one that I created a long time ago in October 2001. I wanted to remember the past, plunge myself again into the simplicity and fun I used to play my characters with. Everything about this character evoquates memory: from his name, a science fiction character I used to love to his bunny ears, and the strange circumstances in which I picked them up. I read the names on his friend list, and I recognized the names of the few of my very first RS friends. I don’t remember anything about them, nor do I remember the childish and foolish things I must have said to them. I looked at my stats, trying to analyze what my long forgotten child self enjoyed; Fighting, and mining, apparently.

Since the removal of the wild, Jagex have left thousands of the RS players disappointed. The wild was a great place to be in, as the old players remember, that were around to see it. It was a place of fear, darkness, and fun. Many remember the time where they entered the wild, carrying only but what they needed, and nothing of great value. Yet, many were so scared of seeing that white dot screaming towards them, and having to either run away or log out quickly. That was the best thing about the wild, is the fear, something that new players aren’t going to be able to experience, because we all know, that getting killed by an NPC isn’t the same thing. The wild was what many would say, ‘What made Runescape, Runescape’.

That title may sound a little far fetched, but according to recent comments by Imre Jele, Jagex’s Contents Chief, getting paid to play MMORPGs may not be too far off. In a recent interview he said:

Legal real-world trading is something a lot of companies are playing around with the idea of, and it’s not necessarily a bad thing. But you have to design your game with real-world trading in mind from day one, you can’t just chuck it on top of the game. In the future we are going to have games, good games, where you’re going to have professional players who create an account and sell it for real-world money and manage to make a living by playing. And that’s going to be fun.

Not getting your Runescape account hacked is actually very simple. Do not do stupid things like use autoers or anything that says it it a cheat for Runescape. And definitely do not give your password to anyone.
