If you have some damage to your foundation or basement because of water, you need to get that fixed as soon as possible, because leaving that damage there is going to undermine your house, and could eventually cause your house to start to settle or sag. When you call in a foundation repair company, they are going to do several things in order to repair your foundation.

Track Down the Water

The first thing that they are going to do is to try and figure out where the water is coming from. It's no use doing repair work if the water is still going to get into your foundation because that can just cause the repairs to fail and for other damage to start to develop. So, the contractors are going to look to see if they can figure out where the water comes from. It could be something as simple as your downspouts draining out too close to your foundation, which is a simple fix -- just add extenders to your downspouts. It could also be something like having a heavy clay soil that holds a lot of water next to your house and foundation. In that case, the contractor may add something like French drains, to reroute the water from near your basement. Once they know where the water is coming from and have alleviated that problem, the contractors can start repairing the damage.

Slabjacking

One of the things that the contractors may have to do in order to fix your foundation is something called slabjacking. This technique may be needed because the soil under your foundation may not have been prepared correctly, or the soil under it may have been washed out because of the water or how much water you have under your foundation. With slabjacking, what happens is that the contractor is going to drill holes in specific places. Once they have done that, they are going to pump a special mud mix under your foundation. That mixture will bring your foundation back up to level. It will set and keep your foundation from settling again.

If you have a damaged foundation, you need to get it fixed as soon as possible. Contact a cracked foundation repair contractor and have them come out and evaluate your foundation. They will be able to tell you what needs to be done in order to get it fixed and keep your foundation nice and strong.
